10 Best Cookware For Convection Microwave Oven

Microwave ovens with convection are quite interesting kitchen appliances with a lot of functions to take advantage of so it’s going to be a delight to review the best cookware for convection microwave oven.

Of course, all microwave ovens with convection already come with some cookware themselves.

The glass turntable is always included because that’s essential for the microwave function.

Some models will only include the turntable and no other cookware.

Other more expensive models with a higher variety of functions might include a bake tray, a bake rack and even an air fryer basket for convection microwave ovens that also work as an air fryer.

And that’s why microwave ovens with convection are so absolutely interesting.

When you also add the fact that nowadays some can also be used as an air fryer and they include the basket for that, things become even more exciting. It’s really nice to have kitchen appliances with so many purposes because they can save up a lot of space in the kitchen.

Instead of buying an air fryer, microwave oven, and a countertop oven, you might be choosing a microwave oven with convection and air fryer function. I also review some interesting options in my article looking for the best French door toaster ovens.

I’m getting off track here because we’re actually looking for the best cookware for convection microwave oven. Let’s see about that.

Best Cookware For Convection Microwave Oven Reviews

The main question I want to answer first is whether you need some special cookware that is labeled somehow microwave convection oven cookware.

Or if you can pick any cookware you desire, obviously making sure that the size fits the interior of your appliance.

Things are actually very simple.

If you’re using the convection oven part to cook food, then you can use whatever cookware you would be using in any other oven, as long as the size fits.

You can pick whatever pots, pans, trays you would be using in any other oven, made of whatever material they’re made from. They can be cast iron, glass dishes, stainless steel, aluminum, ceramic cookware, clay cooking pots, etc.

On the microwave side, you should only pay attention to not using things made of metal because the microwaves don’t penetrate metal so no heating up will happen.

As far as I can tell, ceramic, glass and silicone cookware are among the few that are both oven safe and microwave oven safe.

They can be used whether you’re cooking or you just want to heat up some food. And ceramic, glass or silicone cookware can be used for the combination function, too.

1. Calphalon Nonstick Bakeware Set, 6 Pieces

Although it’s not advertised as being made for toaster ovens, this Calphalon Nonstick Bakeware Set is on the smaller side.

Since it’s made of metal, carbon steel, it can only be used if you’re using the convection function. It’s not good for either the microwave or the combination features.

Features

It’s not a cheap set, that’s for sure. However, it features 6 pieces so that might make up for it.

We get:

  • 2 round cake pans, each 8 inches
  • medium loaf pan
  • 9 x 13 inches cake pan
  • 12-cup muffin pan
  • 10 x 15 inches baking sheet

The trouble I have is with the baking sheet. I’m sure that most people might not be able to fit this baking sheet into their models. You’ll have to check that out. There’s no point in buying a set if you can’t use them all.

Moreover, while I like this set, it’s certainly more geared towards those who are looking to bake a lot of cakes and desserts. Once again, I don’t know what you want to use the cookware for. You’ll have to decide if it meets your needs.

We also get a durable nonstick  coating to easily release the baked goods.

All the pieces are oven-safe up to 450 degrees F.

They’re dishwasher safe but not broiler safe.

If you’re looking for something on the smaller side and you want to focus more on cooking savory dishes than desserts, check out my next recommendation, the Wilton Toaster Oven Baking Set with 4 pieces. It’s also half the price of this Calphalon Nonstick Bakeware Set, 6 Pieces.

2. Wilton Toaster Oven Baking Set, 4 Pieces

If we see the words toaster oven, then we know that the sizes for the bakeware are quite small.

This is described as a non-stick, diamond-infused, navy blue toaster oven baking set with 4 pieces.

The total price for these 4 pieces is around $20. It’s not pricey at all. I guess it deserves a deeper look to see if it can be picked as the best cookware for convection microwave ovens.

Features

We get 4 pieces:

  • 8 x 8 x 2 inches square pan
  • 7.91 x 9.91 inches crisper pan
  • 8 x 10 x 2 inches oblong pan
  • 9 inches pizza pan

They’re all metal pans so don’t use them with the microwave or combination functions.

These are the interior dimensions. The outer dimensions are only bigger by a couple of inches so they’re able to fit.

It’s definitely a small set. Even the pizza pan is quite tiny. I can see it as being perfect for a single person or for maximum 2 persons if you’re baking in a row.

Still, I like the price, the quality, the navy blue color is definitely striking, and the versatility of these pieces is not bad at all.

The non-stick coating is infused with diamond for making it last, it’s supposed to be durable.

Mostly, I would still be using parchment paper to avoid cleaning and to make them last longer.

Wilton Toaster Oven Baking Set is advertised as being capable of getting us through years of baking cakes, toasting bread and warming up crispy appetizers. I hope that comes true for all buyers.

They’re dishwasher safe.

3. E-far Baking Set of 3 Stainless Steel Cake Pans

As it says in the name, these 3 cake pans are made from stainless steel. That means that we can only use them on the convection function. They’re useless for the microwave and combination functions.

Let’s see if these 3 cake pans of different sizes are what you’re looking for.

Features

This is a set of 3 oblong baking pans with the following dimensions:

  • 12.4 x 9.75 x 2 inches – even the biggest can fit easily into a microwave convection oven
  • 10.5 x 8.3 x 2 inches
  • 9.4 x 7.x3 x 2 inches

However, I should also mention that some people might find these cake pans to be too small. That’s certainly possible.

What I primarily like about these 3 cake pans is that they’re made of premium quality stainless steel without toxic materials.

Even if we get a set of 3 and all 3 sizes are decent, the price for this set is under $30. It’s not a bad deal. Hopefully, the fact that they’re made of stainless steel is going to ensure that they last for years to come.

Another thing that I like is that we don’t get any non-stick coating. There’s no teflon to worry about but some people might not like stainless steel bakeware for exactly this reason.

I recommend using parchment paper if you don’t want to go through too much trouble.

The manufacturer mentions that the heavy-gauge steel provides even heat distribution.

They’re oven safe up to 450 degrees F, which is enough.

Moreover, the E-far Baking Set of 3 Stainless Steel Cake Pans have a matte finish both on the interior and exterior for easy cleanup and high performance release.

You can use them for desserts, lasagna, pizza, casseroles, pastry, etc. Additionally, we can use them to roast chicken, meat, beef, fish, vegetables, etc.

They’re also dishwasher safe.

They can be stacked together for storage.

The quality is very good and the price is affordable. While Dutch ovens are not famous for being exactly cheap, this Le Tauci Ceramic Dutch Oven manages to offer a versatile cooking piece for about $50-$60.

That’s not a bad price for a cookware that has the potential to last a very long time and one that can be used on all modes: microwave, convection, and combination.

It can also be used on the stovetop, with the exception of induction cooktops. Induction cooking is the only restriction this Le Tauci Ceramic Dutch Oven really offers.

We can bake bread dough sizes from 500g to 900g. It’s good for baking a small loaf, which is exactly right for 1 or 2 people. You’ll have to bake 2 loaves if you have more people to feed.

This pot with a lid is free of chemicals for healthy cooking. I love that and I think it’s going to intrigue plenty of you.

This Dutch oven is made from reliable ceramic quality, made of high-fired stoneware.

It’s also capable of withstanding temperatures from -4 degrees F up to 930 degrees F. Well, convection ovens usually run up to 450 degrees F, most around 425 degrees F so this Dutch oven will work perfectly.

It can also be used over an open fire or on a BBQ grill.

We also get easy-to-grab handles.

It’s dishware safe but I still recommend washing it by hand.

5. Kook French Onion Soup Crocks with Handles, Ceramic Bowls

Since we’re on a roll talking about ceramic cookware that is affordable, oven safe and microwave safe, I thought it would be a good opportunity to mention the Kook French Onion Soup Crocks with Handles.

Each bowl has an 18 oz capacity.

The dimensions are: 7.5 inches in length, the two handles included in the measurements, and 3.2 inches in height.

Features

These ceramic bowls with handles are oven, broil, dishwasher, microwave and freezer safe.

Thus, we can use them with all functions included by a microwave oven with convection: microwave, convection, and combination.

It’s definitely a top reason for preferring ceramic cookware for these types of appliances. They pose no difficulty and you don’t have to think if they work for a certain cooking or heating method or not.

For a price around $30 or so, we get 4 bowls in the set.

Each bowl measures 18 oz. When you’re not cooking them, you can use them as cereal bowls, smoothie bowls, for serving desserts, for salads, etc. They’re versatile and I would say that they’re even pretty.

We can use these bowls to make soups, stews and more.

6. Wilton Non-Stick Mini Loaf Pan Set, 3-Piece

If you enjoy baking bread but you want some really small pans that cost less than $15, this Wilton Non-Stick Mini Loaf Pan Set might be exactly what you’re looking for.

I love the size of these because they’re very easy to use.

You can fit all 3 in the oven at the same time.

Features

The dimensions for each of the pans are: 3 (D) x 5.74 (W) x 2.12 (H) inches.

They’re tiny and adorable. But they’re also heavy-duty pans that can be used for years to come with a bit of care.

These mini loaf pans are made from heavy-gauge steel. This ensures even heating. It also ensures a perfectly brown finish to our baked goods.

The wide handles are also a good feature because they can be gripped easily with oven mitts.

They also come with a durable, premium non-stick coating so that your baked goods can pop out easily.

Given that they’re made of steel, you already know that you can’t only use them with the convection function. No microwave or combination. But that’s perfectly fine because baking is done in an oven not in a microwave. You don’t need the combination either.

Obviously, we don’t have to bake only bread for our sandwiches or meals in these Wilton mini pans.

We can use them to bake all kinds of cakes and cornbread. I think a lot of people are going to be more excited by the idea of baking mini cakes than they’re excited about baking mini breads.

The Wilton mini loaf pans are dishwasher safe but we’re advised even by the manufacturer to wash them in warm, soapy water after each use. Or you can line them with parchment paper if you want to skip the cleaning.

7. Anchor Hocking Square Glass Baking Dish, 8-Inch

I mentioned that glass cookware can be used with all three functions: microwave, convection, and combination.

That makes them versatile and quite desirable if you’re baking frequently. Or if you love making lasagna.

In our house, we have a single glass baking dish. It’s almost as old as I am and I can’t imagine that it could break one day.

However, nowadays when I’m looking for glass bakeware, I also seem to come across horror stories where the glass baking dish shattered into a bunch of pieces and all those wonderful ingredients, the work and the money were completely wasted.

Does the Anchor Hocking Square Glass Baking Dish come without any such complaints? Not completely but it seems that there are just a few of those horror experiences.

Overall, I deem it good for baking and that’s why I decided to pick it as one of the best cookware for convection microwave oven.

Features

The 8 inch interior is definitely a good size even for smaller ovens.

On the whole, this glass baking dish measures 8.55 x 10.5 x 2.65 inches. It’s a good fit for even smaller appliances and it’s another reason for liking it.

It’s also a very versatile baking dish: microwave, pre-heated oven, refrigerator, and freezer safe.

The Anchor Hocking Square Glass Baking Dish is oven safe up to 425 degrees F. That’s good because that’s the highest temperature that most microwave ovens with convection can reach.

It also comes with a TruFit Lid. I love storing food in glass dishes with sturdy lids. Even if I only use a single glass baking dish in the oven, my fridge is full of them.

The lid is BPA-free.

The entire thing is top rack dishwasher safe.

8. Staub Ceramics Rectangular Baking Dish Set, 2 Pieces

I came to realize that I didn’t recommend any ceramic baking dishes as my picks for the best cookware for convection microwave ovens.

I did manage to review a lovely ceramic Dutch oven and a set of 4 bowls that can be used to make soups, chilis, and more. Those I’m completely satisfied with. Thus, let’s see what we can expect from ceramic baking dishes. Especially these ones from Staub.

Features

It’s quite hard to find some really amazing ceramic baking dishes. Am I totally satisfied with these ones from Staub? Not really. There are some negative reviews about this set and I totally recommend checking those out before buying anything.

We get two baking dishes of different sizes:

  • 7.5 x 6 inches the smaller one
  • 10.5 x 7.5 inches the large baking dish

These are the interior dimensions but they should fit easily in most microwave ovens with convection.

The larger rectangular ceramic baking dish holds 2-3 chicken breasts. The smaller one is good for 2-3 baked potatoes or one whole acorn squash split in two.

They’re good for feeding 2 people comfortably, which is pretty nice.

We can use them to cook lasagna, casseroles, roasted meats and vegetables, desserts, etc.

My interest in ceramic cookware is that it can be used on all 3 functions: microwave, convection, and combination.

Indeed, there is mention that the Staub Ceramics Rectangular Baking Dish Set is microwave, freezer, broiler, and oven safe up to 572 degrees F.

They represent a durable, scratch, impact, and thermal-shock resistant construction.

Besides the stoneware material, these two baking dishes also feature a vitreous glass porcelain-enamel finish. They look quite pretty.

And they feature comfortable, large handles.

The stoneware won’t absorb moisture.

Best Cookware For Convection Microwave Oven Buying Guide

Let’s cover what you absolutely need to know when you’re looking for the best cookware for convection microwave oven.

As you might have noticed from my reviews, my recommendations are quite varied. But it’s possible that you might not like any of them and that you might want to choose something entirely different.

How big is a convection microwave oven?

One of the biggest factors we must take into account when choosing the right cookware is the size of the appliance we’re using.

Thus, we must keep in mind that microwave ovens with convection don’t only combine two different methods of cooking or heating up food but that they also are pretty small in size.

These types of cooking and heating kitchen appliances are small in size, which makes them a good choice for small kitchens and apartments.

But that might also make it more difficult to choose cookware. Fortunately, we can find all kinds of trays, pans and pots in different sizes. You shouldn’t have too many difficulties in this area.

The interior of some microwave convection ovens will measure 15.5 x 15.35 inches or 13.07 x 13.7 inches for smaller ones or 14.4 x 17.9 inches, etc.

As you can see, dimensions vary a bit. You’ll know best which cookware will fit inside your particular model.

How to choose cookware for the convection oven function

If you’re using the convection function, meaning that you want to bake or cook fish, meat, vegetables, bake pizza and bread or cook desserts, then you can use whatever cookware you want as long as the size fits.

If you’re baking pizza, you can also use a pizza stone or a baking steel, just like we would in any oven.

So: for anything that has to do with the convection oven part, we can use whatever cookware we would use in any other countertop oven. Just make sure that the size fits.

As the best cookware for convection microwave ovens we can use any pan and pot that states that it’s oven-compatible.

Whether they’re made from ceramic, coated with teflon, made of cast iron, made of aluminum or sheet steel, stainless steel or glass dishes, stoneware, etc.

As long as they state that they can be used in the oven, then they will work in a microwave convection oven, too.

For example, ceramic cookware can be used in the oven but granite cookware is, most of the time, used only on the stovetop. That’s why I say that you check to make sure.

How to choose cookware for the microwave oven function

On the other end, we have the microwave part of the appliance.

This time, the only aspect we must keep in mind is that we can’t use metal. We need to look for pots and pans that are microwave oven safe.

Ceramic cookware is often both microwave oven safe and oven safe.

What we can’t use

The only thing you must understand is that things made of metal should never be used with the microwave function.

We can’t use aluminum foil on the microwave function, except for shielding. We can use wax paper. Or parchment paper.

Wax paper won’t melt when it’s used with the microwave function but it will melt if you use wax paper on the convection oven side. Just as wax paper can’t be used in air fryers or other types of ovens because it melts and catches on fire.

Parchment paper works for both sides of these kinds of appliances.

The conclusion is that you should treat your microwave oven with convection as two separate appliances.

One is the microwave oven part where no heating elements are used. For this, microwaves heat up the water molecules in the food and that’s how it gets heated up or cooked. But microwaves don’t penetrate metal so they won’t have any way to reach the ingredients inside.

The other side is the convection oven part. This one should be treated as any other oven that you’ve ever owned. When you choose the best cookware for convection microwave oven, you just have to shop like you would do for any other oven, just making sure that the size of the pans, pots and trays fits.

How to choose cookware for the combination function

If you’re using the combination cooking function, that means that the oven alternates between convection and microwave heating.

We’re not treating the appliance as two different appliances but as a whole that integrates them both.

For this combination feature, you can’t use cookware made of metal. That’s obvious since microwaves also alternate with the heating elements to cook our food more quickly.

Combination cooking gives the advantage of convection browning and the speed of microwaving but we are kind of restricted in the type of cookware we can use.

Ceramic or glass cookware seems to be the obvious response for combination cooking.

Oven cooking bags can also be used for microwave, convection, and combination.

Plastic dishes that are microwave safe can be used for the convection and combination functions as long as they are heat resistant up to 400 degrees F.

Browning dishes can be used for microwave, oven and combination functions only as long as they’re oven safe.

All in all, that’s pretty much all you need to be aware of when you’re shopping for the best cookware for convection microwave oven.
