6 Best Pomegranate Juicers Reviews

Before deciding which is the best pomegranate juicer for your household, there are a few very important questions that you must answer for yourself.

The most important questions that you must ask yourself are:

Do you want a citrus juicer, whether manual or electric, that also works for juicing pomegranates?

Or do you want a centrifugal or masticating juicer that works for juicing pomegranates, citrus fruits, carrots, ginger, apples, leafy greens, mango, pineapple, celery stalks, cauliflower, beets and beet leaves, cucumber and basically all kinds of fruits and veggies?

Well, the answer to these questions can be found quite easily.

If you want to make juices from a variety of fruits and vegetables, besides pomegranates, in that case you have to look for either a centrifugal or a masticating juicer.

If you are totally comfortable with juicing just pomegranates and maybe some citrus fruits from time to time, in that case a manual or electric citrus juicer is the perfect choice for you.

Citrus juicers are also a lot faster for juicing pomegranates, we get no seeds in our juice, and the only preparation we need to do is to cut pomegranates in half, just like we do for oranges, grapefruits, lemons, etc.

I prefer this type for making pomegranate juice at home.

But I totally understand the versatility of an electric juicer, too. It’s nice to have an appliance that can juice all kinds of fruits and veggies.

Best Pomegranate Juicer Reviews

When I wrote my reviews for the best juicers for grapes or the best juicers for tomatoes, I chose to mostly focus my recommendations outside centrifugal or masticating juicers because there were other models that were so much better for those particular fruits.

Am I going to do the same when reviewing my top options for the best pomegranate juicer?

I am actually going to review a mix of options: citrus juicers (both manual presses and electric citrus juices), centrifugal juicers, and masticating juicers. It’s going to be great.

I should mention that whether your budget is around $20 or $500, everyone can find the best pomegranate juicer for their budget.

1. Can-Can Pomegranate and Citrus Juicer: Overall the Best Pomegranate Juicer

This Can-Can Pomegranate and Citrus Juicer is described by the manufacturer as being commercial grade, which means that it is a product intended for commercial use. Of course, household consumers can also buy it, otherwise there would be no point in writing this review.

Is it truly commercial grade? I believe that it is.

The manufacturer also mentions that the Cancan company has been producing this type of press since 1958. Their products are made in Turkey.

Also, there is a review from someone who has bought this Cancan juicer for their restaurant bar and prep. According to the buyer, the press works great for limes, lemons, and oranges. I will also add that it works just as beautifully and efficiently for pomegranates, too.

What I can absolutely tell you is that his hand press citrus juicer is very expensive. With a price around $200, there absolutely are a lot of other much cheaper manual hand press juicers that we could buy.

One of those is the very popular Zulay Professional Citrus Juicer. It works on the same mechanical principles as the Can-Can Pomegranate and Citrus Juicer, with the stark difference that the Zulay model is half the price.

However, I also want to take this opportunity and mention that I’m not going to recommend the Zulay Professional Citrus Juicer because it has quite a good deal of negative reviews, including some that mention paint chipping and landing the juice.

You can check out the Zulay Professional Citrus Juicer and see for yourself if the much cheaper price is worth it. I just gave you my reasons why I decided to skip the one from Zulay and recommend the much more expensive Can-Can.

Features

What I absolutely love about the Can-Can Pomegranate and Citrus Juicer as one of the best pomegranate juicers is how well it’s built.

It’s just such an interesting machine. And so fluid. I just really love everything about it.

The ease of us. The speed with which it squeezes out citrus fruits and pomegranates in just a few seconds.

We also don’t have to put a lot of effort into squeezing out the juice or cleaning the machine afterwards.

It’s a well thought manual press juicer that will help you make a glass of juice in less than a minute and with minimum preparation. Once you’ve cut up your fruits in half, you can get started.

It works for pomegranates, oranges and all other citrus fruits.

The machine parts that are in contact with the fruits are all made of stainless steel, except for the upper press.

The minimum height is about 21.6 inches and the maximum height is 25.5 inches so all you need is a bit of space and you’re good to go.

How to use a hand press manual juicer for pomegranate juice

You can see in this video how a manual press citrus juicer works and just how easy it is to juice pomegranates with one.

You’ll also see just how dry the pulp is left after you’re using the Can-Can Pomegranate and Citrus Juicer.

It’s quite impressive.

There’s also no need to strain the juice because the seeds don’t pass through. That goes for all citrus juicers.

Basically, the only thing you need to do is:

  • cut the pomegranates in half
  • rotate the handle for the Cancan juicer clockwise until the cap comes down on the fruit and then press on the handle until all the juice is squeezed out
  • rotate the handle counterclockwise to lift up the cap, remove the squeezed pulp and you’re ready for another half of fruit to extract juice from

The most force we’re using is when we press down on the handle to squeeze out the juice from pomegranates and fruits.

We don’t even need to use force when we’re pressing the handle and the Can-Can Pomegranate and Citrus Juicer is built to handle large batches of fruits without exerting ourselves too much.

2. Black+Decker Citrus Juicer, 32oz: Cheapest Pomegranate Juicer

From a machine that costs about $200 and it’s my favorite when it comes to choosing the best pomegranate juicer, we’re jumping to a tiny thing that costs 10 times less.

Frankly, if you want to spend the smallest amount possible on a citrus juicer that also works for pomegranates, then this Black+Decker Citrus Juicer is going to be the best choice you could make.

Features

It might be cheap but this is not a manual juicer. That means that it should be fast and quite efficient at squeezing out the most juice it can from the pulp.

It’s not powerful, it has a 30 watts motor but it’s just enough for the size and the concept of this electric citrus juicer.

To get it started we just have to press the fruit onto the cone. Basically, we hold the fruit and the cone rotates to squeeze out the juice.

It actually includes an auto-reversing juicing cone to provide maximum juice extraction.

We also have marking measurements on the juice container, from 4 to 32 oz, in case you’re using the juice for making desserts.

The container also has a drip-free spout.

All in all, the Black+Decker Citrus Juicer might not be a fancy machine with stainless steel parts but it works exactly as it should. And that’s what really matters.

It extracts juice from citrus and pomegranates without too much effort or preparation from our part.

I really like it and I think it would be a very good choice for a lot of people, especially for those who want to maintain the cost as low as it gets and who want a small juicer that is very easy to use and clean.

The parts are dishwasher safe so you can pass on the cleaning to another appliance.

3. Breville Citrus Press Pro

From a citrus juicer that looks quite similar to those small citrus juicers we all grew up using, we’re moving on to a stainless steel citrus juicer that basically belongs in a very fancy kitchen.

This Breville Citrus Press Pro also has a price above $200, which makes it even more expensive than the Can-Can Pomegranate and Citrus Juicer that I recommended as my favorite.

The major difference between these two expensive citrus/pomegranate juicers is the design, they look nothing alike.

However, even if it might seem like they have nothing in common, they actually do have in common a major thing.

One is electric (Breville) and the other one is manual (Cancan) but they both function when we press on a handle that then presses on the fruit cut in half and thus the juice is squeezed out. They basically operate pretty much in the same manner even if they look nothing alike.

The Breville Citrus Press Pro is electric because it needs to spin the juicing cone. We press on the handle, the juicing cone spins to extract the juice and that’s about it.

Features

I’m quite sure that the first thing people are going to be excited about when they see and read about the Breville Citrus Press Pro is the whole stainless steel construction.

I like that aspect a lot, too. I start liking it a lot less when I saw the price for this thing.

Breville describes it as an active-arm press with power assisted lever.

The translation for that is that we:

  • cut the fruits in half – we can juice any citrus or pomegranate on that stainless steel cone, it will work for all sizes
  • press on the handle to bring the cap down on the fruit
  • when the cup is covering the fruits, the juicing cone starts spinning and the juice is squeezed out

Since the cone spins automatically, we basically don’t put any effort in, besides pressing on the lever.

It’s a very easy to use pomegranate and citrus juicer.

It’s also quite powerful with a 110 watts motor. The much cheaper Black+Decker Citrus Juicer only needs 30 watts and it’s entirely made of plastic. The Breville Citrus Press Pro is fast, powerful, and made entirely of stainless steel.

I guess it depends on just how much you’re willing to spend.

Also, read some negative reviews because this Breville appliance has a good share of them.

4. Hamilton Beach Juicer Machine

If citrus juicers are totally not your thing because they only juice citrus or pomegranates, then you can look at electric juicers. The kind that works for anything from ginger to carrots, leafy greens, mango, and whatever else you want to juice.

I mostly like the Hamilton Beach Juicer Machine a whole lot for two reasons: it’s one of the cheapest juicers we could buy and it’s very fast and quite easy to use.

Centrifugal juicer

The Hamilton Beach Juicer Machine is a centrifugal juicer. That means that it has a powerful motor, 800 watts, that spins some blades really fast to squeeze out the juice from fruits and veggies.

Centrifugal juicers shred the fruits and vegetables with a high-speed spinning blade and that’s how the juice is made. The speed they can reach can be between 6,000 and 14,000 RPM.

However, you’ll have to deseed pomegranates (remove the arils) in order to make pomegranate juice. We have to do the same for masticating juicers, too.

Thus, a bit more prep is needed when we’re not using citrus juicers. For those, we just cut the pomegranates in half and we’re good to go.

The good news is that centrifugal juicers like this Hamilton Beach are very fast since they have such a powerful motor that spins the blades very fast. We can make a lot of juice in a very short time.

On the other hand, centrifugal juicers are very loud. Masticating juicers, also known as slow juicers, are both slow and a lot less noisy. If you’re truly sensitive to noisy appliances, I don’t think centrifugal models are for you.

It is also assumed that the fast speeds of centrifugal juicers incorporate more oxygen into the juice. That can reduce the shelf life of the juice so I recommend drinking it fresh.

Features

It’s a very simple machine: we get the component with the motor, the blades, the strainer, and the chute for ingredients and we get a container for the pulp.

If you notice that the pulp in the container is still a bit wet, juice it again. I always recommend you do that, especially for centrifugal models that can sometimes leave a too-wet pulp.

There’s no jug for the juice so you’ll have to use your own container, cup or glass.

The chute is called a 3-inch Big Mouth chute. It’s large so we don’t have to cut our fruits and veggies in small chunks.

It’s also pretty easy to clean, even a complete beginner will figure out how to take it apart and put it back together.

All in all, the Hamilton Beach Juicer Machine is a nice option for people who don’t care about noisy machines if it means that they’re pretty affordable. And for people who want a juicer that goes beyond citrus and pomegranates, while also serving as the best pomegranate juicer.

5. Omega Juicer NC900HDC

We’ve gone through some impressive citrus juicers. And we’ve also seen what a centrifugal juicer is capable of and why it might be a good choice for some of us.

Now, for my last two reviews, I decided to focus on masticating juicers.

Masticating/slow juicers are famous for their decent levels of decibels. And, more importantly, for their ability to make the freshest tasting juice, while maximizing yields.

They crush or masticate the ingredients with a slow turning screw or auger.

Not a lot of oxygen is introduced in the process of squeezing out the juice. We can store the juice in a covered container for 2-3 days in the fridge.

Most of them are also very expensive, requiring a budget of around $400-$600.

Out of the two masticating juicers that I decided to recommend, the Omega is quite affordable when we compare it to how much the Tribest Greenstar Elite GSE-5050 costs.

All in all, juicers like the Omega and the Tribest are good choices for people with very generous budgets.

And for those who know that they’ll stick to juicing a whole range of ingredients at least a few times a week. That way you get your money’s worth.

Features

I guess that I should first mention that this is more than a juicer. Not only does it juices all kinds of fruits and veggies but it can do more.

Omega mentions that it’s capable of doing the following: baby food, celery juice, citrus juice, fruit juice, leafy greens juice, nut butters, nut milks, pasta, sorbet, vegetable juice, and wheatgrass juice.

The components for the Omega Juicer NC900HDC are:

  • 1 juice cone
  • 4 nozzles (3 pasta & 1 breadstick)
  • pulp bowl
  • homogenizing cone
  • juice bowl

It includes a 15-year warranty.

It’s easy to use, fairly easy to clean although it takes a while, pretty silent, powerful, and overall pretty amazing.

Also, this is a horizontal masticating juicer with a single auger and it looks a bit like a meat grinder. It will require quite a bit of space on the kitchen counter, the same goes for the next model from Tribest.

6. Tribest Greenstar Elite GSE-5050

As the most expensive juicer around, the Tribest Greenstar Elite GSE-5050 might be a choice that many might consider making when they’re looking for the best pomegranate juicer for their households.

It also has a good share of negative reviews, demonstrating once again that even extremely expensive appliances are far from perfect. That’s always such a letdown.

On the other hand, the few reviews that mention juicing pomegranate are very enthusiastic and full of praise for this Tribest. It seems that it handles pomegranate seeds incredibly well, masticating the seeds until they’re truly dry.

Features

Once again, we have a juicer that does a lot more than juice. Since it’s a slow juicer and not a lot of oxidation occurs, we are told that we can store the juice in a covered container in the fridge for up to 72 hours.

Tribest also mentions that their machine offers the freshest tasting juice. And it also maximizes the yields from all fruits and veggies.

It uses bioceramic and magnetic technology found in its jumbo twin gears. The twin gears exercise a mastication that imitates the human teeth.

The Tribest Greenstar Elite GSE-5050 can also make nut butters, sorbets, sauces, and pates with its homogenizing accessories.

All in all, I can’t deny that this is an intriguing juicer but it’s just too expensive for so many of us.

Can you juice pomegranate in a slow juicer?

Pomegranates can be juiced in a manual press citrus juice, in an electric citrus juicer, in a centrifugal juicer or in a masticating juicer.

When we’re using the words slow juicer, we’re actually referring to the masticating type, which also goes by the name slow juicer or cold press juicer.

The absolute biggest difference is that when we use citrus juicers, we treat pomegranates like we treat oranges, lemons or grapefruits.

After washing the fruits and drying them, we just cut the pomegranates in half and that’s all the preparation we truly need. There are also no seeds to strain because they don’t pass through.

On the other hand, when we’re using centrifugal juicers or masticating slow juicers, preparation is a bit more complex.

How to juice pomegranates with a centrifugal/masticating juicer

We actually have two options:

  • we can cut the pomegranate in quarters and juice it just like that with the skin and the membrane
  • or we remove the arils and juice just the arils

I recommend choosing the second option. But you can try both and see if the taste is any different and then decide which is your favorite.

Arils are the small, red things that are found inside a pomegranate and these are the tiny fruits from which we obtain the juice.

Each pomegranate has hundreds of arils inside and that’s why they’re such juicy fruits.

Each aril has two components: the fleshy outer layer and a seed.

Since we get one seed per aril, when we make pomegranate juice in a centrifugal or masticating/slow juicer, we’ll also get hundreds of seeds together with our juice. That’s not the case with citrus juicers.

We need to strain the juice through a cheesecloth if you don’t want to drink all those seeds. And then you’re done and you can enjoy a fresh cup of pomegranate juice made at home.

If you need a guide for making pomegranate juice in a slow juicer, I recommend watching this video. It’s a great guide.

How to deseed a pomegranate

Let’s quickly go over how to easily remove the arils from a pomegranate in case you decide to buy an electric juicer (centrifugal or masticating).

Cut the pomegranate in half and soak it in ice water for 10 minutes.

The arils or seeds as most people call them will release in the water.

Juices made with pomegranates

If you decide to get an electric juicer (centrifugal or masticating), then you can make juice from pomegranates and other fruits/veggies if you want.

Of course, you can also make 100% pomegranate juice. 5-6 large pomegranates yield about 4 cups of juice. That’s not bad at all.

One simple juice is made from pomegranates and apples. You can add both ingredients in equal quantities.

2 pomegranates and 2 apples can make 1 cup of juice. Or maybe more if you’re lucky. My results were 1 cup.

Oranges and pomegranates are another delicious juice we can make at home.

Or just make your own unique juices from all kinds of fruits and veggies thrown in together.

Once you’ve decided which is the best pomegranate juicer for your household, you can make whatever ingredient combinations you want or just stick to drinking 100% pomegranate juice.

Best pomegranate juicer FAQs

Let’s answer some interesting questions related to our search looking for the best pomegranate juicer.

1. Is it OK to put pomegranate in juicer?

If you’re using a centrifugal or masticating juicer, you’ll need to deseed the pomegranate to juice it. In case you don’t want to remove the arils, then we can cut the pomegranate in quarters and juice it just like that with the skin and the membrane. If you’re using a citrus juicer or a juicer like the Can-Can Pomegranate and Citrus Juicer, then you only have to cut the pomegranate in two and you can juice it quickly.

2. Do you have to peel a pomegranate before juicing?

Not necessarily. Personally, I choose to deseed pomegranates, to just juice the arils, if I use my centrifugal juicer to make juice from a combination of ingredients. But you can just cut in four and juice it just like that with the skin and the membrane. If I use a citrus juicer or a juicer like the Can-Can Pomegranate and Citrus Juicer then all I have to do is to cut pomegranates in half and that’s all the prep I need to do.

3. What is the best juicer for pomegranates?

If you’ve ever been to Turkey, you might have seen that all those amazing sellers of fresh orange, mandarins and pomegranate juices are using a juicer that looks like the Can-Can Pomegranate and Citrus Juicer. If you want to make a large quantity of pomegranate juice in a couple of minutes, then the Can-Can Pomegranate and Citrus Juicer might be the best juicer for pomegranates. For a much cheaper alternative, I recommend the Black+Decker Citrus Juicer, 32oz. This is a cheap citrus juicer that is quite good. On the other hand, you’ll want a centrifugal juicer, like the Hamilton Beach Juicer Machine, or a masticating juicer, like the Omega Juicer NC900HDC, as the best pomegranate juicer if you want to combinate pomegranates with a bunch of fruits and veggies and leafy greens.
